  62. This package contains the Windows 3.1 Screen Saver, Photo Show 3D,
  63. by Progressive Logic.  This document contains only a
  64. brief description of the package and its features, along with
  65. instructions for its installation.  Quite detailed documentation is
  66. included in the package, but it is in archived form, and is more easily
  67. read after installation.

  69. PHOTO SHOW 3D is a Windows 3.1 screen saver that maps a BMP or PCX image
  70. to the surface of a 3D object and tumbles it across the screen. It
  71. requires a 386 or better processor. Registration includes a copy of the
  72. latest registered version, JPEG image support, an assortment of sample
  73. image files and a sample Winzle, a great Windows image puzzle game by
  74. Cascoly Software.

  76. Photo Show 3D is a shareware program.  This evaluation version includes
  77. all features of the program, with the exceptionn of JPG support, and is
  78. not crippled in any way.  You may use it for up to 30 days, without
  79. charge (see the on-line help for more details).  If you like the program,
  80. and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you are
  81. required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.TXT for more details).  Any
  82. fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain
  83. this evaluation version was a fee for their copying and distribution
  84. services, rather than a payment for continued use of the program.

  128. There is an extensive online help that you may access from
  129. the configuration dialog so this file contains only the
  130. information needed to get you started.
  131.  
  132. You use Program Manager to install Photo Show 3D.  From the
  133. menu, select "File" and then "Run".  Next you type "x:SETUP"
  134. replacing x with the drive the floppy is in (usually A).  If
  135. you have downloaded PS3D from a BBS or an online service such
  136. as Compuserve it will probably be on your hard drive so you
  137. would then also include the name of the directory it is in.
  138.  
  139. Below is information on configuring Photo Show 3D for
  140. Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 users.
  141.  
  142. For Windows 3.1 users
  143. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  144. You must first run Control Panel.  Usually it's in the Main
  145. group.  Then from the Control Panel you must run Desktop.
  146. In the Desktop setup dialog you first select Photo Show 3D
  147. as the current screen saver and then click on the Setup
  148. button to bring up the Photo Show 3D Configuration Dialog.
  149. Click on the help button for additional information.

  151. For Windows 95 users
  152. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  153. Move your cursor to any clear space on your desktop,
  154. then click on the right mouse button and choose Properties.
  155. Click on the Screen Saver tab and choose the PS3D Screen
  156. Saver selection from the menu.  Use the Settings to adjust
  157. the features. Pick Preview to test the screen saver, or OK
  158. to save the settings.  Click on the help button for
  159. additional information.

  162. This version of Photo Show 3D uses Microsoft's new WinG fast
  163. graphics library for Windows to support systems running any
  164. number of colors from 16 to 16 Million.  The first time you
  165. run a WinG application at any given screen resolution it will
  166. display a box with an strange abstract pattern that it uses
  167. to test for the fastest way to update the screen on your
  168. system.  You should only see it the first time you run the
  169. program at that resolution.
  170.  
  171. If you should receive an error message stating that CTL3D or
  172. CTL3DV2 has been installed incorrectly it only means that
  173. there is more than one copy of the file CTL3DV2.DLL on your
  174. system.  All you have to do to correct the problem is to
  175. delete all but one copy.  If there is a copy in the
  176. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ directory, that is the one you should keep.
  177. It should be safe for you to delete all other copies.  If
  178. there is not a copy in that directory there should be one
  179. in the \WINDOWS\ directory.

  181. CAUTION: CTL3D.DLL and CTL3DV2.DLL should not be considered
  182.          copies of the same file.  If you have both of these
  183.          files on your system you should be careful to keep
  184.          one copy of each.
